PDS racket busted, five men arrested in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: The Cyberabad Special Operation Team busted a PDS rice racket and arrested five people on Wednesday. The police intercepted trucks carrying 340 quintals of PDS rice. The trucks were going to Karimnagar to sell the rice in the black market.
The arrested people were identified as Rayila Santhosh, 32, a trader from Chakripuram Colony, Manigandlla Chandra Shekar, 41, a trader from Shamirpet, Malka Venkat Reddy, 32, a clerk from Siddipet, Shaik Kareemuddin, 31, from Maharashtra, Selvaraj, 50, from Karimnagar. Police said that 15 others were absconding.
Police said the accused individuals procured PDS rice and were going to supply it to the traders. “The PDS rice was collected from mills and was diverted to Haritha Bio Seeds Pvt Ltd at Parlapalli, Karimnagar where it was meant to be used for the fermentation of liquor,” said an official.
