Kathir, who debuted with Madha Yaanai Koottam, has undergone a makeover for his next film. Titled Sigai, directed by Jagadeesan Subbu, who worked as associate cameramen in a few films, it is billed as a suspense thriller with a solid romantic track. The first look of the movie, which released on Thursday, had the actor resembling a girl with a tomboyish look. Kathir plays a character with multiple shades.
He explains about his role, saying, “The film starts one night and ends the next night. There are nine pivotal characters in the movie and what happens to each of them in the course of time forms the crux of the story. The role that I play has three shades — one of them has a feminine aspect. However, my appearance as seen in the ‘first look’ poster doesn’t exist in the film. The project has been titled Sigai as it dwells on the changes in perspective of a person with respect to the changes in his hairstyle.”
Kathir says he has been working on his character for a month improvising on its histrionics, dialogue delivery, and so on. According to him, it’s difficult to take inspiration from a person or any other films to pull off this role. “The character is unique in all ways, and has ample scope for performance. Hence, I took up this role,” he says, and adds that though the film is commercially packaged, it is devoid of run-of-the-mill elements like duet songs featuring lead actors, positive or negative characters, etc.
