Tots initiated into world of letters on Vijayadasami
The daybooks were kept for pooja and till Friday there were special saraswathi poojas at the temple
THRISSUR: Over 10,000 children were initiated into the world of letters by acharyas at the special saraswathi mandapam of the Thiruvullakkavu Sreedharmasastha temple here on the Vijayadasami day on Friday.
Starting from 4 a.m. till 7 p.m., nearly 1.5 lakh devotees visited the temple which is considered as the most auspicious for the ‘ezhuthiniruthu’ ceremony in Kerala along with Panachikkadu in Kottayam.
From Tuesday, the daybooks were kept for pooja and till Friday there were special saraswathi poojas at the temple.
Hundreds of kids wrote their first letter Hari Sree Ganapathaye Namaha in praise of Lord Ganesha to enter the world of letters at Guruvayur temple.
At Karayur Ezhuthupally Saraswathi temple near Guruvayur, associated with the father of Malayalam language, Thunchath Ezhuthachan, the Hari Sree was written on sand taken from the bed of the temple pond. Hundreds took part in the ceremony.
