2 of attention diversion gang arrested
Police said they seized 18 mobile phones, Rs 19,000 in cash and a bike from their possession

Hyderabad: Two members of an attention-diversion gang involved in many cases were arrested by Osmania University Police on Saturday. The gang from Vijayawada mostly targeted bikers, and after diverting their attention, fled with their wallets and mobile phones. Police said they seized 18 mobile phones, Rs 19,000 in cash and a bike from their possession.
Gangsters D.Kamalakar and Ch Suresh Babu are natives of Jakkampudi in Vijayawada. Kamalakar, who was trained at Stuartpuram, started with pickpocketing when he was 18. He had been arrested by Jubilee Hills Police in 2011 in a murder case. After release, he formed a gang with his friend Suresh and the two rented a house in Ramnagar area here. The two were sent to judicial remand.
