Kochi: Opposition leader V S Achuthanandan on Sunday said he levelled allegations of financial misappropriation by Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana (SNDP) Yogam general secretary Vellappally Natesan in the micro-finance venture he ran after collecting details from top officials of the public sector banks.
“I sent letters to the top officials seeking details of the irregularities,” Mr Achuthanandan said, speaking at an election rally of the Left Democratic Front in Kalamassery near Kochi.
“They did not trash it because I am the opposition leader. They gave me all the details. I now reiterate my charge that he took Rs 5,000 crore from the banks and Rs 6 crore from the Kerala State Backward Classes Development Corporation for the micro finance scehem he ran for the women under the condition that he would charge a maximum of five per cent interest. Natesan, however, charged 18 per cent,” the Opposition leader said. He said he is in the process of collecting more evidence so that he can approach a court of law.
