Internal fights hit TD leaders in Anantapur
At present, both have compromised and are joining in developmental activities
Anantapur: Internal bickerings among the TD leaders lead to controversial statements in the district. This situation is worse at Anantapur headquarters in particular as several leaders had differences with the urban legislator V. Prabhakar Chowdary.
There was internal feud between urban MLA V. Prabhakar Chowdary and Anantapur Municipal Corporation (AMC) mayor M. Swaroopa for the last few months. Poor cooperation between the two had its impact on developmental activities since one year.
At present, both have compromised and are joining in developmental activities. The Mayor was reportedly moving close to civil supplies minister Paritala Sunitha.
Interestingly, Tadipatri MLA J.C. Prabhakar Reddy lashed out at the urban MLA of Anantapur over poor survival percentage of saplings planted in Anantapur. Pointing out that Mr Chowdary was just after publicity instead of concentrating on minimum maintenance of saplings, Mr Reddy said though a drive of planting one lakh saplings took place at the district headquarters, "not even 2,000 saplings survived out of the mega plantation programme."
Mr Reddy threw a challenge to Mr Prabhakar Chowdary over survival percentage of saplings in AMC limits.
Further, the Tadipatri MLA made allegations against his own party MLA for not cooperating with him to unveil the Mahatma Gandhi statue at Anantapur. Anantapur MP J.C. Diwakar Reddy had conducted Bhoomi Puja for the installation of statue a year ago.
His brother Prabhakar Reddy blamed the civic authorities and also the urban MLA for their negligence and prolonged delay as Gandhi statue was kept in the AMC office.
Mr Prabhakar Reddy had prepared to take up the programme on his own, but stopped after the police officials convinced him. He gave an ultimatum to the civic authorities to unveil the statue within a month.
However, Mr Prabhakar Chowdary denied allegations by his own party MLA and said that he had never tried to resist the installation of the Mahatma Gandhi statue at district headquarters.
It may be recalled that the urban MLA had differences with civil supplies minister Paritala Sunitha and her son Paritala Sriram in connection with the cable TV business.
