Man dies after Rakshak vehicle rams into his bike

He was riding from Chatrinaka towards Gowlipura area

Hyderabad: A twentyfour-year-old man died after he was hit by a police vehicle in Chatrinaka area on Sunday morning. P Rajesh was riding his Pulsar bike when a police vehicle coming from the opposite direction hit him near the Chatrinaka Police Outpost in Gowlipura. Its driver Ramu, working as home guard at the South Zone DCP office, has been arrested.

Police said Rajesh was a resident of Makhdumpur and ran a shop in Gowlipura, while his parents worked as daily wage labourers. On Sunday morning, he was heading from home for his shop. He was riding from Chatrinaka towards Gowlipura area.

“Around 8.30am, when he reached RD function hall near the Chatrinaka Police Outpost, a milk vendor riding a cycle came on his way. To avoid the milk vendor, Rajesh applied sudden brake, due to which he lost control of the bike and fell down on the opposite side of the road. The police vehicle coming from the opposite direction ran over him,” was how the police version went.

Chatrinaka inspector Manoj Kumar said Rajesh was shifted to a private hospital in the police vehicle, and he died around 10.30am. Rajesh’s relatives staged a protest in front of the police station demanding action against the driver.

Rajesh was to get married soon. “His engagement was fixed for next month,” said his elder brother Shiva. A case of ‘causing death by negligence’ was registered against the police vehicle driver Ramu. A home guard at South Zone DCP office, he has been arrested following the public protest.
