THRISSUR: The trial in the sensational Chandrabose murder case will commence at the District Additional Sessions Court here on Monday.
Fifty-year-old Chandrabose, who worked at a high-end apartment at Puzhakkal as a security guard, suffered fatal injuries after Mohammed Nisham, owner of King Beedi Co, allegedly in an inebriated state assaulted him and later rammed his Hummer on him in the wee hours of January 29.
The assault happened after an argument over the delay on the part of the guard to open the apartment gates. After fighting for life in a private hospital here for 18 days, the guard succumbed to his injuries on February 16.
Special Public Prosecutor C. P. Udayabhanu told DC that prosecution witness one (PW1) and colleague of Chandrabose, Anoop, and another co-worker, Ajeesh (PW2), will be examined on Monday.
"There are 111 witnesses in the case and 12 of them are eyewitnesses. I am not ruling out the possibility of some of the witnesses turning hostile. But I am sure that all crucial witnesses will stand their ground to prove the murder and to get maximum punishment for the accused," he said.
Noted criminal lawyer in High Court B. Raman Pillai will be appearing for the defendant.
Nisham, who was also booked under the Kerala Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act (KAPPA), is presently lodged in Kannur Central Jail and he would be shifted to Viyyur Central Jail here for the trial which is expected to be completed by November 31.
Even though Nisham approached the sessions court, High Court and Supreme Court for bail, the courts refused citing the seriousness of the case and his criminal track record.
