NRIs buy 3 lakh 'e-bricks' to contribute to AP's new capital Amaravati
The e-brick scheme is to promote people’s participation in development of Amaravati
Hyderabad: About three lakh 'e-bricks' were purchased by Telugu NRIs in the US on a single day to contribute to the construction of Andhra Pradesh's new capital Amaravati, state IT minister Palle Raghunatha Reddy said on Monday.
Each 'e-brick' is priced at Rs 10. The NRIs based in North America Bay Area bought about three lakh e-bricks following an appeal made by Reddy who is on a visit to the US, a release from his office here said.
The state government has introduced the e-brick scheme to promote participation of people in the development of the new capital, coming up in Vijayawada region.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for Amaravati on October 22.
Reddy, who participated in Oracle Open World, an IT summit, in San Francisco, appealed to the IT companies and NRIs to make investments in Andhra Pradesh.
He met the top officials of Oracle Corporation, Intel and other firms.
