Railway cops seize 20 kg gold from 2 persons at the Vijayawada station
Property handed over to the commercial tax officials
Vijayawada: Government Railway police and Railway Protection Force officials on Sunday seized gold jewellery worth over Rs 6 crore from two persons at the Vijayawada railway station.
GRP inspector T. Srinivas Reddy said that cops noticed Nirmal Jain and Moolchand Jain, both natives of Chennai who had alighted from the GT Express, acting suspiciously. Upon thorough checking of their luggage, the sleuths found the gold jewellery weighing about 20 kg.
They could not tally the seized jewellery with the bills produced by the duo and handed over the property to the commercial tax officials who are verifying the bills.
RPF inspector P. Chakravarthy and Mr Srinivas Reddy jointly conducted checks. Following verification by the commercial tax officials, a case would be booked.
