New Delhi: The Delhi police has prevented what could have turned out to be a cold-blooded killing spree by a 16-year-old juvenile. He committed two murders after claiming that a godman appeared in his dream and assured him of all the wealth and fame if he sacrificed at least 10 humans.

According to a report in Hindustan Times, the teenager is into drugs and alcohol and is from Nihal Vihar in New Delhi. He also had an accomplice, 26-year-old Pradeep, who helped him in the crime after being promised free liquor. Both of them were arrested two days after the second murder on Sunday.

The teenager's mother is a daily wage worker and brother works for a scrap dealer. The youth related that there was a gap of one month between the dream and the first murder which he carried out after taking blessings from a Shiva shrine in Haridwar in neighbouring Uttarakhand.

The report quoted police sources saying that he swore to return to his place only after completing his task and that he also bought a switchblade amounting to Rs. 800.

For the next two months, the teen was on the lookout for his victims, which he chose randomly, and he chose 25-year-old factory worker Kanhaiya offering him free liquor. He took him to an isolated spot in Nihal Vihar and killed him. Within 48 hours, he chose his next victim Hari Ram, 40, who was found within 500 metres from the previous crime spot, and was also lured by the prospect of free liquor.

The boy would have struck again in a day or two, the officials added.
