Kochi: Kerala High Court on Monday stayed for two months a government order directing Kerala Toddy Workers Welfare Fund Board to grant Rs 100 crore to Consumerfed.

Justice V. Chitambaresh  granted  the stay on a petition file by K.M. Sudhakaran, president, Kerala State Kallu Chethu Vyavasaya Thozhilali Federation (CITU), challenging the order.

The petitioner submitted that the state had  not yet repaid Rs 100-crore loan which it had taken earlier. The government has also not handed over Rs 50-crore grant due from it.

The petitioner pointed out that Consumerfed is facing a crisis just like KSRTC and so it was  not viable to hand over the money to the government.
