Chennai graduate nabbed for job racket

He collected more than Rs 32 lakh from 17 persons

ChennaiA 32-year-old MA graduate was arrested by the Central Crime Branch (CCB) of the city police on Tuesday on charges of cheating gullible aspirants to the tune of Rs 32 lakh promising jobs in Railways.
 
M. Dibakar, a native of Sathamangalam in Tuticorin, has been involved in the job racket since 2012, police said. He moved to the city in 2011 and stayed at an apartment on Dargah road, Zamin Pallavaram. He was working in a private travels company in Pazhavanthangal.
 
Ambitious to become an owner of a travels company, he floated JJ travels in Maraimalai Nagar in 2012. However, as he was pushed against the wall running the company, he decided to orchestrate the job racket. “The first victim was the pastor of a church at Tiruvannamalai, where his wife is a regular visitor. He convinced the pastor that he holds a high position in Railways and could get jobs for youngsters in the locality. The pastor bought his bluff and started recommending people including few of his relatives to him,” an investigating officer said.
 
Dibakaran collected amounts ranging from Rs 50,000 to Rs 3 lakh depending on the profile of the candidate. He collected more than Rs 32 lakh from 17 persons. CCB acted on a complaint from Alli of Ambur that her son is among those duped by Dibakar. A special team picked him up from his hideout in Pallavaram on Tuesday. He was produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody.
