Kasargod: Student Shredha Thamban never dreamt that her commenting on the Prime Minister’s concept ‘Selfie with daughter’, would elicit praise from the PM for her review of the concept. However, that is exactly what happened.
Shredha , an 11th standard student of Kottodi Government Higher Secondary School, Kasargod was on cloud nine when she received a call from Kannur Akashavani, lauding her for her review on the PM’s programme Mann Ki Baat and thanking her for giving it the opportunity of getting national recognition through her work.
It was after her mentor Sukumaran Mash asked her to write a few words on her views about the concepts put forward by PM through the programme Mann Ki Baat, that Shredha decided to put pen to paper and jot down major and noteworthy points in the concepts.
“It was indeed an opportunity for me to write about something that I has been following since the beginning of the programme”, said Shredha.
“‘Beti Bachao, Selfie Banao’ was a great thought and I saw people from across the country responding to the concept positively. This was a perfect example to stop female foeticide in our country,” she added.
“A small initiative taken by me was recognized by the PM himself, hence I understand the importance of commenting on national topics which will definitely be noticed if found noteworthy. This recognition is a matter of pride for all behind the work including Kannur Akashavani, which has taken the initiative in promoting students with innovative concepts”, she further said.
Shredha’s three-page note on some of the topics discussed in Mann Ki Baat includes selfie with daughter, patriotism, cleanliness and importance of Khadi. Shredha is now on a mission to help her friends comment on any national issues in future.
