Mumbai: The Saif Ali Khan - Shahid Kapoor - Kangana Ranaut starrer 'Rangoon' is set to go on floors on November 18. Shahid Kapoor has already begun to prepare for his role in the film. Ever since he has become big with 'Haider', Shahid has been growing out the scruff- and we are not complaining. The actor posted a picture and captioned it as "Time to prep for ?#?Rangoon? . Miles to go before I sleep . Keep it real you all . And believe . Because you can ."
Shahid's last outing 'Shaandaar' sunk without a trace at the box office which left him is fuming. Sources close to the actor have reported that he was never convinced about the script, and felt that it “lacked substance”. The entire team of the film was left stunned by 'Shaandaar’s critical and commercial drubbing. Made at an estimated budget of Rs 60 crores, the film registered a steep drop in box office collections.
'Rangoon' directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, is a classic tale that is set against the backdrop of World War II. The director who wanted to work on this subject since eight years now, promises that the film will have the musical charm of Moulin Rouge, the romance of Casablanca and teh intensity of Saving Private Ryan.
The film’s first schedule, which starts on November 9, will take place in Arunachal Pradesh, where Saif and Shahid will start filming their parts and will be joined by Kangana Ranaut later. In this love triangle, we’ll see Saif playing the character of a filmmaker, Kangana as an actress from the 40s and Shahid playing the role of an army officer. The makers of ‘Rangoon’ plan on releasing the film around October next year. The film is being produced by Sajid Nadiawala.
