Tight security for Pakistan envoy in Bengaluru

Mr Basit will be meeting state Siddaramaiah along with the state governor Vajubhai Vala

The Pakistan High Commissioner who is accompanied by his wife Sumaiyah Basit and two officials attended an event today at Bangalore International Centre and Takshashila around Wednesday noon.
BENGALURU: The Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit arrived in Bengaluru on Wednesday morning, on his maiden visit.  
 
The Pakistan High Commissioner who is accompanied by his wife Sumaiyah Basit and two officials attended an event today at Bangalore International Centre and Takshashila around Wednesday noon.  
The Pakistani High Commissioner is said to be attending an event scheduled at Press Club on Friday, said the sources. 
 
“The Pakistan High Commissioner arrived in the city on Wednesday morning under thick security cover. Mr. Basit has been given tight security by officials from Intelligence Bureau and city police. Fool proof security arrangements have been made in the city while the city police commissioner is personally supervising the security measures to the Pakistani High Commissioner,” said a senior police officer. The police have left no stone unturned as even the visitor book at the hotel where he is staying is being screened by the police in a bid to pre-empt any unpleasant incidents.   
 
According to officials, Mr Basit will be meeting state Chief Minister Siddaramaiah along with the state governor Vajubhai Vala on Thursday. The Pakistani High Commissioner is also scheduled to interact with students and faculty of Mount Carmel College.
