Women’s panel to sue Cherian Philip
Criminal case sought for misogynistic remarks against women Congress leaders
Thiruvananthapuram: CPM fellow traveller Cherian Philip is facing the music from the State Women's Commission which has decided to slap a criminal case against him for his disparaging comments against women Congress leaders in his Facebook post.
At a meeting of the SWC here on Wednesday, the members sought a criminal case against Mr Philip following which chairperson K. C. Rosakutty asked DGP T. P. Senkumar to take necessary action in this regard. The National Women’s Commission has already sent a notice to Mr Philip.
“Unfortunately, Philip’s controversial and derogatory post is still on his Facebook page. He had portrayed women Congress leaders in an indecent way which we cannot ignore. So we have demanded to the DGP that criminal case be charged against him,” said Ms Rosakutty.
In his Facebook post , Mr Cherian had commented about the ‘shirtless strike’ of Youth Congress members and said that some Congress women who had disrobed in front of party leaders had managed to get seats. Following widespread protests, Mr Philip apologised, but the controversial post was not deleted.
