Hyderabad: The main opposition YSR Congress Party in Andhra Pradesh on Thursday demanded that the TDP government convene an all-party meeting to discuss the steps to be taken to mitigate the drought situation in the state and sought a one-time settlement towards loan waiver of the farmers.

"When severe drought conditions are prevalent in the state, the TDP government's indifference is objectionable and we demand that it convene an all-party meeting to discuss the steps to be taken to mitigate the situation," party MLA G Srinkant Reddy told reporters.

"We also demand that the government clear all the loans of farmers in a single instalment which would benefit the farmers immensely," he said.

Reiterating that Rayalseema is being neglected badly, he said the irrigation projects which were near completion during the term of (late) Y S Rajasekhara Reddy are still pending and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is "concentrating" only on one region.
