Gundu Sudharani joins long list of RS MPs who quit Telugu Desam

Hyderabad: MP Gundu Sudharani, who is set to part ways with the Telugu Desam and join the TRS on October 29, will be the 24th Rajya Sabha member from the TD to do so.

Ms Sudharani met Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao in New Delhi on Wednesday  and later told newsmen that she was very much impressed with the development and welfare activities taken up by the TRS government, especially in declaring her hometown Warangal as a Smart City. She said she would announce her decision regarding joining TRS “very soon”.

Interestingly, a majority of leaders who were nominated to the Rajya Sabha by the Telugu Desam have either deserted the party and joined other parties or have become inactive.

“It is a jinx attached to the party. Many of the Rajya Sabha members nominated by the party have left us,” said a senior TD functionary.

RS members who deserted the party are N. Tulasi Reddy, M.V. Mysoora Reddy, C. Ramachandraiah, S. Ramamuni Reddy, R. Ramachandraiah, Renuka Chowdary, Parvataneni Upendra, Jayaprada, Mohan Babu, Solipeta Ramachandra Reddy, Puttapaga Radhakrishna, Talari Manohar, Y. Laxmi Prasad, Y. Sivaji, Mente Padmanabham, Kalavala Prabhakara Rao, Khaleelur Rehman, K.M. Saifiullah and Vanga Geeta. The inactive members are C. Laxmanna, Alladi Rajkumar, Yerra Narayana Swamy and P. Prabhakara Reddy.
