Bengaluru: Two neighbouring flats in gated community burgled

Bengaluru: Two apartments of a gated community were robbed and the burglars made away with valuables worth Rs 4.8 lakh early Thursday.

Chaos prevailed for in Laxmi Paradise, located in Amruthahalli, after the thefts came to light. The two flats which are situated on the first floor where the theft took place are parallel to each other.

In the first case, Santosh Sequeira and his wife had gone for work when the theft took place, while in the other incident, Mamata Prasad, who works for Cisco, returned from work to find her house burgled, police said.

Sequeira who reached home at around 12.30 am, found the front door of his flat open. Upon checking, he found gold ornaments worth Rs 4.5 lakh missing. Mamata who also returned home the same time found gold jewellery worth Rs 20,000 stolen from her cupboard.

“Police suspect the involvement of someone from the building itself. We are verifying the background of security guards, house keeping staff and other workers who have access to the apartment,’ said an investigating officer.
