Shweta Basu Prasad is immersed in work after shaking off the recent controversy she was in. She has been working as a script consultant for Phantom Films and says that Anurag Kashyap is keen to cast her. Shweta says, “Anurag told me, ‘While scouting for scripts, look for a role for yourself’. I’ve also known Vikramaditya’s (Motwane) mom for a while now, and she, too, has been very encouraging and is pushing me as an actor. Acting has always been on my mind although my job at Phantom helped me understand films better; but now I want to return to being in front of the camera. I wanted to be sure of what I wanted to do and now I have no doubts.”
Shweta was recently part of the AIB qawwali video and is also doing an episode of Bipasha Basu’s Darr Sabko Lagta Hai. “I’m not sure if I will do more of TV shows but this particular show was being shot in a short film format, which is why I agreed. I play a girl who moves into a haunted house.”
Shweta adds, “I graduated in mass media while waiting for Bollywood films. Mean-while, I was doing South films for a year. Star kids definitely get film offers on a platter but they too have to put in an effort to survive.”
