Mumbai: Mouni Roy plays the lead role in Colors upcoming Naagin. The actress says the role is a welcome change from her previous work. “I have a simple look, very less makeup, not so much eyeshadow, Im enjoying it. I play Shivanya, who is simple, innocent, a dreamer, lost in own thoughts, sincere, curious, naive and clumsy. She keeps getting into trouble.”
The show based around the supernatural does she believe in it in real life too? “I don’t believe in it, Im a religious, spiritual person but if there is good in the world there must be evil too. When it comes to TV though, I love watching supernatural shows like the Vampire Dairies and other fantasy fiction.”
Mouni’s first show Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhu Thi, where she played Krishnatulsi was for Ekta Kapoor and now Mouni is glad to be teaming up with her again. “Ekta is my mentor I came to Mumbai from delhi, where I was studying for Kyuni... That experience helped me grow. I remember at that time Ekta had advised me to keep my performance as normal as possible not over dramtic, and don’t try too hard. She believes conversational performance. She taught me shed the baggage and let my performance flow like a river.”
So how did Mouni spend her break from TV? “Im always traveling. Even on holidays I wake up and by 7 am I am out sightseeing, so whoevers traveling with me needs to keep up with my speed. Then Im up till late in the night, and I need another break to recover from that holiday.”
Shooting continuously for her show that is a mini-series, Mouni rues, “Im Missing watching bigg boss, it is my fav show on Indian tv, because we are shooting late nights I do not watch bigg boss.” Ask her about her personal life though, rumored boyfriend Mohit Raina and Mouni prefers to keep maun.
