Hyderabad: Parents will be made answerable if minor boys or girls are caught riding bikes. Case will be registered against such parents, city police has warned after over 180 minors in the age-group of 12 to 16 years were caught riding bikes in Old City area late at night.

The minors along with their parents were given counselling and let off after they took an oath that the children will not use bikes till they turned 18, South Zone deputy commissioner of police Satyanarayana said.

As a part of Mission Roam Yos, police conducted a special drive Thursday night and detained 201 persons, 20 of them majors, riding without valid documents.

“We were shocked to see students of class IV & V riding high-end bikes like Pulsar. Many of them were doing so without the knowledge of their parents, and were taking these bikes on rent. Most of them were found riding in a rash manner,” said Satyanarayana.
