Act on resolutions, AP told
Plea on retirement age hike lands in court
Hyderabad: Justice C.V. Nagarjuna Reddy of the Hyderabad High Court has directed the AP government to immediately consider all resolutions of state-owned undertakings and other similar bodies pending before it for its approval regarding enhancement of the age of superannuation from 58 to 60 years and take a decision within four weeks.
The judge was dealing with a petition by Manda Pratap Reddy, an employee of the AP State Civil Supplies Corporation Ltd seeking to declare the action of the corporation in issuing proceedings for his retirement at the age of 58 despite the decision of the government enhancing the age of retirement to 60 years as illegal.
The judge said, “It is regrettable that the state of AP, which has taken a decision to enhance the age of superannuation of government employees from 58 to 60 years, has been sitting over the various resolutions passed by the state-owned undertakings, including the Civil Supplies Corporation…”
He added, “The inaction on the part of the state government is driving the employees of state-owned undertakings and co-operative bodies to resort to avoidable litigation. This, in the opinion of this court, is wholly undesirable.”
Directing the Corporation to continue the petitioner in service, the judge adjourned the hearing to November 23. Wakf Board split formalised
