Hyderabad: Skipper Mithun Manhas slammed a huge hundred and No.3 Ian Dev Singh almost got to the three-figure mark as Jammu & Kashmir punished Hyderabad to put them on the backfoot on Day One of their Ranji Trophy Group ‘C’ match here on Friday. The visitors were sitting pretty at 331 for 4 when stumps were drawn for the day.
Whatever advantage the hosts had when they reduced their rivals to 29 for 2 in the 14th over, vanished via a humongous partnership of 189 between Mithun and Ian for the third wicket, by which time the J&K dressing room was a joyful lot.
Ian occupied the crease for over three-and-a-half hours as he scored 83 with the help of 12 boundaries before being trapped leg before by left-arm pacer C.V. Milind. But Mithun continued the mayhem, raising another punishing stand of 113 with Parvez Rasool before departing to the scene. The right-hand batsman thrashed 21 fours and three sixes in his 150 that came off 328 minutes before being caught by Tanmay Agarwal off Anwar Ahmed. With some more batting still to come, Parvez is looking strong though, batting on 61 that’s embellished with 10 hits to the fence.
