Make a simple, cheap non-contact voltage detector circuit:
Using a simple electricity tester is one way of checking if your wire is live with electric current running through it. However, it needs you to touch the contact for the tiny light to glow. There are non-contact electricity testers available in the market and these detect electric current flowing through the wire without the need of touching it. The device can be simply placed near the live wire and the induction of electricity into the antenna helps alert the user (either via a light or buzzer) that there is electricity flowing in the wire. We show you a simple video on how you can build one of these circuits at home.

The Tesla coil is nothing but a high voltage generator. It is an electrical resonant transformer circuit invented by Nikola Tesla around 1891 and is used to produce high-voltage, low-current, high frequency alternating-current electricity. Tesla coils can produce output voltages from a hundred kilovolts to several million volts for large coils. These coils are very popular devices among certain electrical engineers and electronics enthusiasts. Builders of Tesla coils as a hobby are called "coilers". If you want t build your own Tesla coil at home, here is a video on how you can build a mini coil at home with a few inexpensive parts.

How to make a cute robotic toy snake
A robotic snake looks quite fancy and could be a favourite toy for many! Have you ever tried making one at home?
In order to make a simple snake toy, you just need to cut an electrical wire channel in 7 pieces to make the different parts of the creature. The head part of snakes gets an oscillation motion because of this circuit and the motors. This oscillation is then moved down along the body towards the tail, giving a snake like body movement to the toy.

How to repair a dead laptop battery
Laptop batteries usually have a life span of around 1.5 – 2 years. However, if you are lucky enough you should get another year or so, but many are not as fortunate and end up with just around a year’s battery life. Laptop batteries are usually made using a few Lithium-ion cells placed in series and parallel combinations to get the require power rating and voltage. Some laptops have a 3-cell battery, while others have a 6-cell or 9-cell. Each cell inside the battery pack is a regular 18650 Li-ion cell. The main reason for the batteries going dead is the internal dead cells. So the only option you have is to replace the entire battery pack, and your laptop is back online again. This can be a costly affair, but more than the cost is the availability. No two laptops have the same battery pack, and even worse, laptop manufacturers don’t stock compatible batteries for long. This forces you to do away with your laptop for lack of battery replacements. But what if we tell you that you can repair the laptop battery yourself and have it working as good as new? Yes, all you need to do is to carefully pry open the battery pack and replace the internal cells with new ones. The hack shown here will guide you on replacing the batteries yourself. All you need is basic soldering skills and a multimeter, apart from a few new 18650 cells that you can buy online.

Today’s DIY video shows you how you can make one of the simplest electric trains using some copper wire, a few magnets and a single battery. The miniature train works on the principle of magnetism, where the copper coil induces a magnetic field with the help of the battery which propels the magnets forward. Making the toy train is very easy and you can build it within an hour and in a low budget of Rs 200 or less. Check the video which shows you how the train works and how you can build one at home.
