Andhra Pradesh helmet rule in place in Godavari

Rajahmundry: As part of a state-wide programme, the helmet rule is going to be enforced strictly for two-wheeler riders in Godavari district from Nove-mber 1.

The helmet rule will be initially implemented in an area falling under the limits of municipal corporations and municipalities and subsequently, it will be enforced on national and state highways and also in gram panchayats. With no exception, riders of  all two-wheelers, including motorcycles, scooters and mopeds, are supposed to wear the helmet.

Initially, the rule is for the rider to wear the helmet and if the pillion ri-der also wears it by choice, both the riders on the two-wheeler will be safe in case of any mish-ap. Both police and road transport authorities have formed special teams independently and jointly to enforce the he-lmet rule from Sunday.
