Hyderabad: Representatives of the Balanagar Industrial Estate have sought renewal of lease for the 40-acre industrial land allotted to small, medium and micro industries. They urged the Telangana state government not to shift them to the city outskirts.

They were speaking to industries minister Jupally Krishna Rao who visited the Balanagar Industrial Estate on Saturday, the first visit by any industries minister in 30 years, to examine the infrastructure facilities available there.

They also submitted a representation for exemption of land conversion charges from conservation zone to industrial zone and sanction of infrastructure development fund for the estate.

They also sought allotment of 20 acres for micro units as most of them need around 200-300 sq yard plots. It would be beneficial to have all of them in one place, they said. The minister said he would pursue the case of extending the lease with Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday.

Cautioning them against pollution, he said there should be no objection from nearby residential areas.
