Ex gratia hiked for violence-hit
For civilians, in case of death, the ex gratia has been hiked from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 25 lakh
Hyderabad: The Telangana government has effected a major hike in the ex-gratia paid to the families of police personnel, home guards and civilians who die or are seriously injured in extremist violence. For officers of the rank of SPs and all IPS officers, the ex-gratia has been hiked from Rs 30 lakh to Rs 1 crore.
The enhanced ex-gratia will be applicable from June 2, 2014, when Telangana was formed. Chief secretary Rajiv Sharma issued orders regarding this on Saturday. For the first time, the home guards also have been included in the list of those eligible for ex-gratia.
In case of death, the family of a home guard will be paid an ex gratia of Rs 30 lakh and in case of permanent disability an ex gratia of Rs 20 lakh will be paid. In case of serious injury, Rs 3 lakh would be paid. For civilians, in case of death, the ex gratia has been hiked from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 25 lakh. For permanent disability, the ex-gratia has been hiked from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 20 lakh and for injuries from Rs 2 lakh to Rs 3 lakh.
Regarding police personnel, in case of death of officials between the ranks of head constable and SI (ex-cluding head constables), and equivalent ranks of civil servants of other departments, the ex-gratia was hiked from Rs 25 lakh to Rs 45 lakh. For permanent disability the ex gratia was hiked from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 25 lakh and for injuries the ex-gratia was hiked from Rs 3 lakh to Rs 5 lakh.
For inspectors, DSPs, additional SPs and equivalent ranks of civil servants, in case of death, the ex gratia has been hiked from Rs 30 lakh to Rs 50 lakh. For permanent disability, the ex gratia was hiked from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 30 lakh and for injuries from Rs 3 lakh to Rs 5 lakh.
For officers of the rank of SPs and IPS officers, in case of death, ex gratia has been hiked from Rs 30 lakh to Rs 1 crore. For permanent disability, ex grat-ia was hiked from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 50 lakh and for injuries the ex-gratia was hiked from Rs 3 lakh to Rs 6 lakh.
