KOCHI: Home minister Rame-sh Chennithala’s decision to order a re-probe into the death of Swami Saswathikananda is an attempt to divert attention from the vigilance court verdict in the bar bribery case, BJP state president V. Murale-edharan told reporters here on Saturday.

The government has not even followed the standard procedure. In a case of a fresh probe, a report has to be submitted to the court that had considered the earlier case.

“The decision is part of a political conspiracy,” he said, adding a fresh probe would not cause any ‘adverse impact’ on SNDP Yogam general secretary Vellappally Natesan.

“Vellappally himself has welcomed fresh inquiry. So he will not be bothered about it,” he said.

Mr Muraleedharan claimed that the BJP and its allies were posing a stiff challenge to both the UDF and the LDF in the local body elections.
