Deepak Parambol, who has been a consistent face in Vineeth Sreenivasan films, says his next film, Rajesh Pillai’s Vettah, is a new experience because of the cast line-up. The actor, whose last film Kunjiramayanam was a success, will be appearing in a small role in Vettah.
“Rajesh ettan decided to cast me in the film after watching my performance in Thira. In fact, he mentioned a couple of times how he liked my performance in the film and how he spotted me while watching it.”
“So it feels great to be cast based on a previous performance that way. Even though I only have a few scenes in the film, the character is very crucial to the story. I’ll be sporting a beard in the film as in the previous one and I have shed a few kilos for the look. The film itself is a new experience for me because all the films I have done have been with a young crowd within my friends circle. This is the first time I’m working with a huge cast line-up. I get to work with people like Kunchacko Boban, Indrajith and Manju Warrier and it’s a fresh change,” says Deepak.
Considering the close friendship he holds with Vineeth Sreenivasan, will he be a part of his next film Jacobinte Swargarajyam? “Oh, no. I have been part of three projects directed by Vineeth — Malarvaadi Arts Club, Thattathin Marayathu and Thira. In fact, Kunjiramayanam also had our whole team. So when I heard about his film I gave him a call and he immediately said, ‘Da, you’re not there in this film’,” he says with a chuckle.
“Jacobinte Swargarajyam is not his typical style of movie and is a full-on family story. None from our circle is a part of the project, except for Nivin. It’s just a different style of film and needed a different cast. I mean, Gautham Menon is acting in the film! So I’m looking forward to watching it. But I have a couple of other projects in the pipeline. I’m just waiting for all the details to be sorted out before talking about it,” he adds.
