New Delhi: As the crucial fourth round of voting was under way in Bihar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Sunday that the “atmosphere was for change” in the state, and that its people saw the NDA as a “ray of hope”. Finance minister Arun Jaitley, meanwhile, taking on the government’s rising number of critics, said Prime Minister Modi was the “worst victim of ideological intolerance”.

Mr Modi tweeted early on Sunday, “Atmosphere in Bihar indicates people want change. People are seeing NDA as a ray of hope. Will campaign in Madhubani, Madhepura & Katihar.” With just one more round to go in key areas of Seemanchal, the Bihar elections is coming to a close soon, with counting of votes set for November 8.

Mr Jaitley, meanwhile, saying India “repeatedly rejected” intolerance and that it doesn’t “respond to provocations”, on Sunday urged “every well-wisher of India” to make sure that no action or statement by him or her “provides a tool in the hands of those who want to obstruct India’s growth story”.

He accused the Congress, Left thinkers and activists of practising “ideological intolerance” towards the BJP and Prime Minister Modi who, he said, had been the “worst victim” of this type of intolerance since 2002.
