Actress Sony Charishta, who hails from Nepal, has made her presence felt in Tollywood with films like Mr Rajesh and Prema Oka Maikam. She will be making her foray into K’town with Inji Murappa, yet another film named after food items, like Pizza, Jigardhanda and Biryani. Saha, a former assistant to ace director SA Chandrashekar wields the megaphone for the family drama. Sri Balaji debuts as the hero.

The interesting news is that Inji... will be competing with the likes of Kamal Haasan’s Thoongavanam and Ajith Kumar’s Vedalam, which are releasing this Diwali. Yet another attention grabber is that there are many similarities between Inji Murappa and Vedalam with respect to their stories, say insiders.

In Vedalam, Ajith plays a doting brother who goes on a vengeance spree after his sister Lakshmi Menon gets deceived by someone while in Inji…, the story revolves around the bond between the hero and the sister essayed by Shree, and how he wreaks vengeance on her detractors. But Saha claims that it will not have a hackneyed brother-sister sentimental narration. Though it is a small film clashing with giants, he says that he is confident of its success due to the good content.
