Asaduddin Owaisi's MIM opens account in UP, wins four panchayats

MIM candidates won one each in Muzaffarnagar and Azamgarh and two panchayats in Balrampur

Hyderabad: The Majlis Ittehadul Muslimeen on Monday made its maiden entry in Uttar Pradesh by wining four gram panchayats. MIM candidates won in eight panchayats in Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra zilla panchayat polls including two wards in the Kalyan Dombivali Municipal Corporation.

The poll results were declared on Monday. MIM candidates won one grampanchayat each in Muzaffarnagar and Azamgarh and two panchayats in Balrampur district of UP. In Muzaffarnagar, Mr Nitrapal Singh Bodh and in Azamgarh Mr Kailash Kumar Gautham (both SCs) won.

Ms Naseema and Mr Mohd Tahir Khan won in Balrampur district. The MIM also won two seats in the Latur zilla panchayat in Maharashtra besides wining two wards in the Kalyan Dombivali corporation.

The MIM had earlier become the main Opposition in the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation by winning 26 seats. The party had also won two MLA seats in the Maharashtra Assembly polls.
