Belagavi: Holding a crucial meeting in view of the November 15 deadline for submission of a proposal for Smart City Project, Advisor for Belagavi Smart City Project (SCP), IAS officer Ekroop Kaur directed officials in Belagavi to draw up a scientific-based action plan with an objective to make it to the list of first 20 cities to be selected initially for SCP in the country.
Besides having a concrete plan aimed for the next few decades, the officials should also ensure that all the figures and details to be highlighted in the action plan are specific and perfect. Although, people's participation and their suggestions are vital in SCP, the officials should not merely focus on it but give people's suggestions a concrete shape, she said.
Based on some of model cities, prominence should be given by officials to improve the needed infrastructure while developing an old locality in the city under SCP. Solutions to streamline traffic should be found in Belagavi by following the model of B-Track facility of Bengaluru, she said urging local authorities to involve experts in drawing up an effective action plan.
Mr Kaur suggested several alternatives to improve footpaths, parking facility and other civil works and said the officials should workout measures on all these things based on growing population.
