Hyderabad: Terming the Warangal Lok Sabha by-poll as a referendum to the 17 month-old TRS government's performance in Telangana, former Union Minister S Jaipal Reddy on Tuesday requested voters to defeat the ruling party to "set right" the state government's attitude, which he alleged is indulging in "casino politics".

"By-election will not bring down the state government. TRS government plays casino politics which is not good. But a defeat in the Warangal by-election may change the arrogant attitude of the KCR government. You (voters) should teach them a lesson so that they will set things right for the rest of their tenure," Reddy told reporters.

He also ridiculed K Chandrasekhar Rao-led government's claims that it has achieved 99 per cent success in implementing 2014-poll promises and said it has failed on all fronts.

"The election is certainly a referendum. The fight is also between Congress and TRS only. Please defeat TRS to teach them a lesson," he appealed.

Referring to the "encounters" that took place recently in the state, Reddy said people voted for TRS in haste and are now realising (their folly).

However, he was quick to add that he does not find fault with people for electing the TRS to govern them.

By-election to Warangal Lok Sabha seat will be held on November 21.
