Shameer Babu to make IFFK signature film
Film to feature play of light and shadows as its theme

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Shameer Babu, an award-winning animation filmmaker, will make the signature film for the upcoming 20th edition of the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK). A jury comprising of cinematographers Ramachandran Babu and Sunny Joseph and noted director G.S. Vijayan and Kerala State Chalachithra Academy (KSCA) T. Rajeevnath selected the concept mooted by Shameer Babu, which was one of the 25 entries received for the coveted assignment.
This years’ signature film will feature the play of light and shadow through the five elements as its theme.
The academy invited submissions of novel concepts, scripts and storyboards with 20 second run times for the contest from young talents.
The contest was part of a novel initiative of the Academy to search and promote young talents, fresh ideas and innovative storytelling and approaches to filmmaking from the wider public.
The winning contest Shameer Babu hails from Kannur and has worked for Pogo, Cartoon Network and Doordarshan and had won awards. He will be given a cash award of Rs 25000 along with citation at the inaugural ceremony of the 20th IFFK to be held at Kanakakunnu Auditorium. The week-long festival will conclude on December 11.
