HyderabadSankranti being the major festival of AP, many people living in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts will visit their native places at least for a week. “If the TRS thinks they can hold polls on Sankranti and get away with it, it is absurd and meaningless, it will strengthen the TD-BJP chances of winning the GHMC polls. I contacted some of the voters (Seemandhra) today, they say if polls are held during the Sankranti festival, they will remain in the city and participate in voting with more enthusiasm to teach a lesson to the ruling party,” said Jubilee Hills MLA Maganti Gopinath.

Meanwhile, BJP Legislature Party leader K. Laxman said, “It is the primary duty of the Election Commission to consider all these aspects; polls are always held after consulting political parties and that too without causing even minor inconvenience to voters. How can they hold polls knowing that 30 lakh voters are not going to be here during the festival?”
