Mumbai: The poster fans have been waiting for over a year to see, finally arrived on Wednesday! Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali dropped the official first movie poster of his periodic drama ‘Bajirao Mastani’ with a lot of pomp and show in Mumbai. For the launch, the film’s leading actor Ranveer Singh had the honours of dropping the saffron curtains.

Like the previous character poster, this one too was a close up shot of Ranveer's face, but this time around, it was blood stained. With this intense first look, fans could be assured that blood would be spilled at the box office this December when the film takes on Shah Rukh Khan's 'Dilwale'.

The event saw the actor taking centre stage dressed in an army inspired ensemble. At the launch, the actor answered questions that ranged from his reel and real life romance.

The actor, who will be seen playing the legendary Maratha warrior Peshwa Bajirao, said that his role in the film was very demanding and that he was very happy to have bagged the part. Ranveer was quoted as saying, "It was a very physically demanding film, so I worked hard for that! Even acting was very tough for this film and I am really happy that I got this character."

"Bajirao Mastani changed me a lot personally and professionally. It made me a stronger and wiser person," he added.

At the poster launch, Ranveer was left battling for words when asked if he ‘loved’ his co-star Deepika Padukone like Bajirao loved Mastani. To that, the actor said, "Bajirao and Mastani were real individuals, who were in love... We are playing out their story on screen."

The film is just a month away from its release, but a dance routine and dubbing for the movie is simultaneously going on behind the scenes. The film’s leading ladies Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra wrapped up shooting for the film last month, but Ranveer was spotted shooting a scene at Mumbai’s film city this week.

Speaking about the box office clash, the actor admitted that he was ‘nervous’ for his film. However, it was not the reason you’d expect. While most think that the actor was nervous to go up against ‘Dilwale’, Ranveer clarified that he felt nervous because his director had this project in mind for over 12 to 15 years.

Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and produced by Eros International, 'Bajirao Mastani' is all set to release on December 18, 2015.
