She has been off the Mollywood radar for some time but when Meera Nandan blipped back to life, it has been through two meaty projects in two South Indian languages. Contrary to sitting idle and twiddling her thumbs, Meera has been having a whale of a time what with life having changed drastically for the young actress who has found her feet both professionally and personally discovering new frontiers.

In a complete change of tracks, Meera has been working as an RJ in Dubai for the past one year and though film offers came to her, she decided to wait for the right one and it did in the form of director Uday Ananthan’s White, which will be shot majorly in London and stars Mammootty and Huma Qureshi.

Meera talks about her job as an RJ, “I am enjoying my new job, but it took me some time to get used to the office routine because I have never worked in a professional environment before. I wanted my own time to get adapted to this job; I did not want to lose focus on my job. RJing was completely new to me and in a city like Dubai you have to be very careful about what you speak.”

As much as Meera would love to commit to more films, she is very serious about her job as an RJ and mentions the leave factor. “I am a working girl so I cannot commit 30 days or so for a project.”
Meera is living an independent life in Dubai far from her family and fending for herself; cooking her meals, buying groceries and attending to all the little and big nitty-gritties that living alone entails. She admits, “I have changed a lot personally! I was this girl who used to go everywhere with her mother but staying alone has been completely challenging and I have successfully completed one year. I used to be very childish and emotional but all that has changed now.”

Coming back to White, Meera mentions that she has known the director since she worked with him in a segment of the Kerala Café anthology. Meera plays the role of a stylish London girl who is also an IT manager. She adds, “I was missing acting and the character that was offered to me is very different from what I have played before with regards to my appearance. I get a chance to show off my glamorous side because my character is born and brought up in London, so she wi
ll be wearing very fashionable clothes. The audience will see a very different Meera in White!”

Meera has gone full steam ahead and has also signed for a Tamil movie Ner Mugham, the shoot of which is over. She will be juggling her two careers side by side as of now.
