Rs 9.5 lakh missing from van

The cash were meant to be loaded in ATMs in T.Nagar

Chennai: Pondy Bazaar police are investigating the ‘missing’ of a cash box containing Rs 9.5 lakh cash from a van belonging to a cash management firm in T.Nagar on Wednesday.
 
Police sources said four persons including the driver and an armed guard were ferrying more than Rs 50 lakh in several boxes. The cash were meant to be loaded in ATMs in T.Nagar.
 
Two employees of the firm  were loading cash at a Union Bank ATM on North Usman road on Wednesday morning along with an armed guard. After loading the cash, they returned to the vehicle to find that one of the boxes, which had '9.5 lakh cash in it missing.
 
“The driver told them that he was nearby and was talking over phone and did not notice anything suspicious,” a police officer said. The staff approached the Pondy Bazaar police with a complaint. Inspector N. Chandra Bose said that they have initiated investigations into the complaint.
