Pharma student commits suicide in Hyderabad
He was depressed after he was detained due to lack of attendance
Hyderabad: A student of CMR Pharmacy College jumped to death in front of a train in Borabanda on Sunday night. The student, Bhargav, was depressed after he was detained due to lack of attendance. Students staged a protest at the college demanding action against principal Uma Maheshwar Rao.
K. Bhargav Naidu was studying third year BPharm at the CMR Pharmacy College. “He had 68 per cent attendance. Recently the principal threatened him with detention,” said one of Bhargav’s friends.
The college management has set up a panel comprising four principals, two senior professors and four students to inquire into the allegations against principal Uma Maheshwara Rao. The committee will submit its report within a week. The management denied reports that the student was harassed and said that he was promoted.
