Chennai: The Blue Cross rescued a dog on Thursday near Royapuram after an unknown person threw firecrackers on it, causing injuries. The Royapuram police alerted the Blue Cross after locals complained to them about the hurt dog.
The dog, a labrador, has been treated for its injuries and is now in stable condition. Velu T.M, a volunteer with the Blue Cross said that the dog seemed to have been abandoned by its owner since it has a ear infection, however Velu said that the infection could have easily been cured and has asked the owners to take back the dog from their branch in Velachery.
Velu also said this is the first case of the Deepavali season. Blue Cross always received many cases during this season and requested that residents in the city not burst crackers this Deepavali as it traumatizes animals and causes injuries to animals.
