With Priyanka Chopra’s Quantico being well-received abroad, industry experts say it’s a major boost to her brand value

At 33, many actresses’ careers start going downhill. The offers start drying up and they move on to doing “comeback” films, which aren’t the usual commercial affairs of their heydays. This was true for Priyanka Chopra too till she got a new lease of life by switching to Hollywood. The actress has changed the game with her stellar performance in the American TV series Quantico.

It has been so well-received that she has earned her first People’s Choice Award nomination, competing with Hollywood names like Emma Roberts, Jamie Lee Curtis, Lea Michele and Marcia Gay Harden.

So what does this translate to back home in Bollywood and how will it affect her branding in India? Industry experts say that her newfound Hollywood fame has certainly upped the stakes. Adman Prahlad Kakkar says, “Now, Priyanka will have a dual following, here and in Hollywood. She’s her own business manager so she knew she had to do something drastic to extend her career. With Quantico becoming a big hit, she’ll be the first choice for plum projects. She’ll have the option to reject projects rather than getting  rejected. Her career will be rocking and the only bit she has to do is — keep up to the expectations!”

Throughout her 16-year career in the industry, Priyanka has always been counted as one of the top A-listers, earning the big bucks with her endorsement deals and movie roles. With this new feather in her cap, will it also give a major boost to her brand value?

Trade expert Taran Adarsh says, “With her giant step in the international scene being successful and the award nomination, it will also create a ripple on her home turf. Though her price will definitely shoot up here, I believe that it will depend on her equation with a particular producer, so she may not demand a huge price.”

Director Omung Kumar, who has worked with her in the much-acclaimed Mary Kom, adds, “Even last year, Priyanka was more talked about than any male star in the country. People are proud of what she has done and of course, she’ll be seen in a different light hereafter. After all, she has achieved what no other actor has ever done before.”

Eros producer Krishika Lulla says, “It’s fantastic that an Indian actor’s work has been received so well in a mainstream American series. Priyanka is definitely a brand to reckon with.”
With her colleagues rooting for her back home, the only way Priyanka can go now is up.
