Chennai: Man killed by fiancée, lover
Police crack case by tracking mobile phone calls
Chennai: A man from Perungudi, engaged to marry on November 15, was allegedly murdered by his fiancée and her lover. The murder, in which the killers had cut off the man’s head on the night of November 1, came to light two days after police recovered the body and head kept in plastic crate on the roadside at Vellaivedu. Police arrested the suspects on Saturday.
Police identified the deceased as Raja, 34, of Kallukuttai in Perungudi. He worked in a private firm at Parry’s Corner. The arrested were identified as Sathya of Padi and her lover Sahayam from Avadi. Both were running small clothes export units.
They told the police they decided to cut off his head because when they stuffed the body in the crate, the head was protruding out. So they chopped the head off and put it inside the crate, police said.
Sathya asked Raja to call off the marriage plan, fixed by their families. He refused to do so and started distributing marriage invitations to his relatives. Sathya was having an affair with Sahayam, who is already married, for the last 10 years.
Sathya called him on November 1 and fixed a meeting with him on the same day at Korattur railway station. Sathya came to the station along with Sahayam. In the meeting which took place around 9 pm at Korattur station, Sathya sought cancellation of marriage, but Raja refused. When Sahayam started talking on behalf Sathya, Raja started abusing both after which Sahayam assaulted him. Raja collapsed there in front of other rail commuters.
He was taken to Sahayam’s manufacturing unit where he was stabbed to death by Sahayam. The two had then packed his body in a crate and kept on road side in Sithakadu. People noticed it only on the morning of November 4. The police managed to crack the case by tracking mobile phone signals of the three on the day of the murder after identifying the deceased as Raja.
