Chennai: Reacting to DMK’s Namaku Namey campaign orchestrated by M. K. Stalin, the ruling AIADMK has unleashed a mission 234 campaign for which the AIADMK’s Information technology wing is designing events and slogans.

As a preliminary step, the party has directed all four district secretaries in Chennai to go on massive wall poster campaign. In the past two days, the party has put up more than 20,000 posters with theme as mission 234 in north Chennai.

The party had also placed orders for pamphlets and door slips explaining why voters should stick to AIADMK in the next assembly polls. The pamphlets and posters that are to be designed will be more focused on the party’s four-year achievements and at present the content and slogans for posters is getting ready, a party source with IT wing said.

To give the campaign a grand visual spectacle, the party will also release 234 sky lanterns at the Elliots beach on Sunday evening. “We have selected the beach as it would give a pleasant appeal to those thronging the beach and the campaign would not disturb the privacy of beach goers, but will be an appeal to support our party in the next assembly polls”, the source added.

Meanwhile, the state public (elections) department has also started putting up bill boards at bus shelters appealing to youngsters to include their names in the voters roll through online process.

Campaign boards have now been put up in bus shelters on Anna Salai and  Beach road in a phased manner. More shelters will be covered across the city, a department official said.
