BJP crucial factor in Kalpetta municipality, 3 panchayats
The LDF bagged majority in 12 while the UDF gained majority in eight
KALPETTA: The BJP has emerged as the crucial factor in four panchayats and one municipality in the district when the results of the local body poll were announced on Saturday.
In the newly formed Sulthan Bathery municipality with 35 members, the BJP won one seat while the LDF and UDF bagged 17 seats each. The stand of one member would be crucial during taking decisions in the administrative body, it was pointed out.
In the 22-member Poothadi panchayat, the BJP won four seats where as the LDF and UDF won ten seats and eight seats, respectively.
The situation is the same in Pulppalli village panchayat (total -20, LDF - 10, UDF - nine, and BJP - one); Vengappalli panchayat (total - 13, LDF - six, UDF - six, and BJP - one); Padinjarethara village panchayat (total - 16, UDF - seven, LDF - six, BJP - one, and others two).
In the Wayanad district panchayat, the LDF bagged five seats and the UDF bagged 11. All four block panchayats also were won by the UDF.
The LDF had an unexpected success in Pulppalli district panchayat ward, a UDF bastion, where LDF candidate Aneesh Bhaskaran won.
Among the 23 village panchayats, the LDF bagged majority in 12 while the UDF gained majority in eight.
In three panchayats, both fronts have equal tallies and the BJP would be a decisive force. Among the four block panchayats, the LDF bagged only Sulthan Bathery.
Among the three municipalities, the LDF won in Kalpetta and the UDF in Mananthavadi. At Sulthan Bathery, both fronts are equal where the BJP is the decisive factor. It is to be recalled that in 2010, the UDF had won 22 village panchayats.
