Chennai to get panchaloha Varahi
Idol to be installed at Yoha Maya Bhuvaneswari Peetam
Chennai: Chennai will soon have a unique panchaloha idol of Goddess Varahi. Sri Bharadwaj Swami of Sri Yoha Maya Bhuvaneswari Peetam, Ambattur, here, who has undertaken a ‘yagam’ for universal peace by warding off evil forces and negativism in the country, says goddess Varahi is the goddess of earth and She alone can make India a resurgent nation.
“She was the Chief Commander of the armies of goddess Parvathi in the fight against ‘adharmic’ forces. She is powerful enough to quell violence, subjugate enemies, silence virulent detractors and shower bliss and peace on her devotees. I have taken up a yagam to ensure peace prevails in India and our country surmounts challenges from hawkish nations,” he said. He claims Her blessings are required for everyone to come up in life.
His book on Goddess Varahidevi has sold one lakh copies and he not only described the practice of worshipping Her but also advocated everyone to worship Her. The Swami would soon visit Kumbakonam to get the idol. Sri Bharadwaj who chanted the goddess’s moola mantra one lakh times, says he has to chant the mantra three lakh times before installing Her idol in his ashram where a separate sannadhi will be built.
The idol of Goddess Varahi will be three feet high and she will have eight hands. “Varahi is one of the Saptha Mathrukas. Her face resembles a boar, Her complexion dark and she wears silk and black jewellery. She has four hands and two of them hold a mortar and a plow. The other hands are in Abhayamudra and Varatha Karam. Though she represents Lord Yama’s energy, this feminine form of Lord Varaha – an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, is benign to her devotees,” Sri Bharadwaj told this correspondent.
