Engineering student ends life after failing exam

BENGALURU: Upset over failing an exam, a 21-year-old engineering student committed suicide by hanging in Malleshwara Layout in Ijoor police station limits in Ramanagara on Friday evening.
The deceased has been identified as Vidyasri, a native of Tarikere in Chikkamagaluru district. She was studying in BE sixth semester in Government Engineering College in Ramanagara.
Police said that the Vidyasri and two others students had rented out a house in Malleshwara Layout and were living there. On Friday afternoon, her two friends had gone out while she was alone in the house. Meanwhile, she committed suicide by hanging herself. The incident came to light when her friends returned in the evening. The police were alerted about the incident around 5.30 pm.
“The deceased has left a suicide note stating that she had failed in a subject in fourth semester and was not able to pass it. Upset over this, she stated, she was taking the extreme step. We are, however, investigating the case in all angles,” the police added.
The Ijoor police have registered an unnatural death case in this connection and are further investigating.
