MV Raghavan’s daughter loses

While Mrs Balakrishnan got 1,064 votes, Girija came second with 901 votes

KANNUR: Late Communist Marxist Party  supremo M.V Raghavan’s daughter, M.V Girija has lost in ward 36, Kizhunna of Kannur Corporation to KPCC general secretary and UDF’s mayor probable, Suma Balakrishnan.

While Mrs Balakrishnan got 1,064 votes, Girija came second with 901 votes. Girija represented the Aravindakshan faction of CMP, which stood with CPM after the split in the party.

Girija is the Kannur district president of Kerala Mahila Federation, the women’s wing of CMP, and manager of Kannur urban cooperative bank, Kakkad branch.
